I adore this pattern!!! My only complaint us that the blue border pattern around the top stops above the handle and is very noticeable, to me at least. I'm pretty fussy with my patterns I think, so it may not bother others. But I wish there had been a photo including the pattern gap before I ordered it, so I could have looked at other mugs of this pattern instead. I also have discovered I prefer a slightly larger capacity than this for my morning coffee so I plan on using this for my evening tea instead! About the shape... I didn't used to think I would like the bubble/belly mugs, thought of myself more as a bistro mug girl. But when I tried them, I found I actually love the shape! It's comforting to wrap my hand around, and the little flare where the top edge angles back out makes drinking from it a nice solid 'fit' against my lip. Also, it makes carrying the mug from room to room easier... I grasp it from the top instead, so I can keep the mug more level. It helps me to not slosh coffee everywhere!
